RCIA
Sister Ameline Theriot was born in Parks La. On
Sept.5th 1941 to Alexie and Marie Jeanne Blanchard Theriot. She
attended Parks Elementary and Breaux Bridge High School until her senior
year in 1958 when she entered the Sisters of the Most Holy Sacrament on St.
Mary’s Boulevard in Lafayette La on Oct. 13th 1958. After being
an M.H.S. sister for 30 years, she joined the “Sisters for Christian
Community” on Oct. 13th in 1988. Sister received her bachelors
and certification for Learning Disabilities from USL now known as UL and
attended various other colleges for courses in Theology and Religious Ed.
including Marillac in St. Louis, M In 1979 Sister Ameline took the position of Pastoral Administrator St. Elizabeth in Coteau Holmes, a mission of St. Martin de Tours in St. Martinville. Sister did everything except for saying mass and administering the Sacraments. During those 7 years Fr. Paul Metrejean and Fr. Kenneth Morvant came for the weekend masses and administration of the Sacraments. Sister taught in the following schools: Immaculate Conception in Jennings, Sacred Heart in Pineville, Sacred Heart in Pascagoula, Ms., St. Pierre’s in Carencro, Fatima in Lafayette, St. Michael’s Special School in New Orleans, St. Mary’s Learning Center in Lafayette and St. Theresa of Avila in Gonzales, La. (23 years) Sister Ameline was hired by Mr. Jay Sullivan at St. Theresa School in Gonzales to organize and implement the Pre-School program which now has an enrollment of 100 children. During that time she enrolled at L.S.U. for enrichment courses in Early Childhood Education. Sister was also RCIA director at Sr. Theresa for 17 years and for that she attended many Institutes and two Beginnings and Beyond which was led by the North American Forum. Sister Ameline has moved back to Parks, La. where she grew up. She feels very strongly that God has led her to St. Pius and is excited to lead the RCIA process among the people of St. Pius. Sister says that the people of St. Pius have been very warm and welcoming. Interested in becoming a Catholic? Any adult, teen or older child (above seven years of age) who has never been baptized and would like to enter the RCIA process in order to begin the journey in preparation for the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation, and First Eucharist), please call the Parish Office, 232-4656, to express your interest. Your name, address and phone number will be taken so that Sr. Ameline can schedule an interview with you. As Sr. Ameline begins as the director of this process starting dates and times will be determined at a later date. She will further explain the details of the RCIA process. Adult Catholics for First Eucharist or Confirmation: If you are an adult Catholic who was baptized and for some reason never completed your Sacrament of Initiation (First Eucharist and/or Confirmation), you are invited into a process to help make that happen. Volunteers needed to be a part of an RCIA Team!
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) needs members of the Pius
parish community to be part of the Catechumenate team to journey with the
candidates during their time of being in the process. If you would
like to be a part of this process, Sr. Ameline will meet with you and train
you in this ministry.
